some of it! yay me. More on that later.
There was racks of fun vintage..

Notice my favorite, hidden here in the case. I repeatedly begged
to buy them, but Amy would NOT allow it.

Long Beach!
And, some shots of Ava from the pumpkin patch.

commitment, we are going to start shooting some of our inspiration
pieces for swim, fall and holiday and start blogging them
over on Split girl/FB. I, of course will be stealing some of the
shots and putting them here.
In the meantime, I will continue to do what I do best at work..

and how

I love the color red today
how cute is this double gingham.
Why is gingham so cute at times and so awful at others.
Right now, it is cute and i love it.
(from Ramona West.)
And I don't know if its a surge of women hormones or what,
but I bought ANOTHER calico floral dress today.
The last one I bought had HUGE sleeves like this :
these sleeves and this plaid are just lovely.
and I still have a vintage finding obsession with phones and
vintage record players. Any ideas?
And now, Paige, to answer your question.
I usually laugh off these answer the question and pass on to your friends,
but I so cannot live with myself if I even let one person down.
So, in ten years I will be forty years old, which seems crazy.
I already, since turning thirty this year, have extreme paranoia about my
safety and mortality.. so, I am sure I will continue on that track to the
point of unbearable! ha.
My main desire, though, is to be happy with myself and satisfied with my life
and the choices that I made in the last ten years.
Of course, I desire to be WILDLY successful, it would be fabulous if we
could make this business take off and that success led to many fun
travels. I undoubtedly will have collected many things by that point,
and the thought of that makes me happy.
Is that a decisive enough answer?
I did do absolutely nothing over the weekend, which I am terrible at.
Though, I did re-read the fountain head for my tenth or so time,
and now I am lost in a moment of life crisis.. ha.
Just kidding. Although, to be so glamorous and idealistic. hmm.
Anyway.. I am not sure I can bring myself to directly call anyone
out to name what they will be doing in ten years.
So, I hope the ten friends of mine who have blogs (you know who you are)..
do it!
Have a good week!

loving!

This jacket! Such a cute one.
buy it from Paige!
And, check out Paige's blog... she started out a little on
the shy side and has morphed into a complete
supermodel! Giving this 30 year old hope. hee.
And, I am still in love with this
I am really needing more jackets, apparently, because I am starting
to get a serious amount of shi* for wearing this Guatemalan
beauty close to every day.

purchased from ramona west
The jacket has totally taken over the scarf's duty
of chief ridicule receiver... ridicule example
courtesy of Yessi!! hee.
So, I may be wearing a new jacket today - my mom's old
seventies levi's ( and a really cute green vintage skirt!)
but, I need one of my staples. Sorry bout it, but the waitress
from the Claim Jumper Sunday night liked it. a lot. So, that
compliment will take me at least into the next decade. ha!

shell shock

Nine hours at Disneyland followed by three hours at dinner
followed by a 20 hour bday extravaganza followed by
a boozy father's day brunch. phew!
I am just re-entering the real world. My reaction times are
a little slow and basically a fresh blog entry is WAY out of
my league right now.
Luckily the beautiful Paige is not a slacker and posted
some pics over the weekend!
Love her in her orange.
awesome.
And here we are in the jumpy. I think it is impossible
to look cool in a jumpy.
and that is why this photo sequence of paige in the jumpy is
completely amazing! So effortlessly cool.
All pics are by Paige from her blog.
Find out more about Paige and her great skirt there.
Thanks so much for coming Paige!
We loved hanging with you guys! Let's do it again
without 60 people.

whoot!

Read this new blog post Paige did about THIS sweater
from the Split Girl photo shoot
over on her Vintage loving blog barefoot and vintage!!
I know some people always wonder about
what inspires certain lines of clothing or pieces in the line.
To start, I am obsessed with thick Granny sweaters.
Likewise, I am in LOVE(capitals, again) with Cobalt, Navy,
and Red... and America(kidding.) But, the America
palette is so amazing to me.
So, when I stumbled on this sweater in Paige's wonderful
vintage shop... I was so happy.
Perhaps everyone remembers it from THIS post??
So, don't let me design a line of clothing, because I will take this
sweater and run with it!! Get yours in 2011 from Split Girl!
Anyhoot, visit Paige's shop and blog because she is darling and
you may just find your own special new vintage clothing friend!
Too, you can find out the back story on our super FAMOUS sweater!
Thanks for the blog love Paige!!
(and for being so awesome!)

pig squeal!

The weekend started off strong with a care package
from Susie...
that contained MANY feet of beautiful Indian silk!
I completely understand the desire of Indian women
to wrap themselves in this wonderful creature!
So soft and beautiful!
I really am still overwhelmed by the sheer size of this
piece of fabric! woooo hooooo!
and a beautiful card with a
neon orange envelope.
Thanks Sus! I can't wait to work with this stuff!!
I am going to have to lay out a strict plan.

dirty secrets!

Well, not really a secret to anyone who knows me that I have a 'small'
problem throwing things away. It just so happens that I can see the
simple beauty in just about anything and my house is full of nooks
and crannies of small clusters and collections
(and so is my garage and closet).
And you know, despite the constant, daily badgering and mention of it
from all parties, I am still completely proud of the fact that
I truly appreciate everything.

Cue the mention of an amazing blog 'A Collection a Day'
from Artist Lisa Congdon, where she shows us one of her many
collections each day, in part or in whole, real or imagined - imagined
she does in illustration.
I love the word collector. It has such a positive connotation.
I love how these photos make such simple subjects seem so interesting,
truly glamorizing the collection of what some would call nonsense.
Check out the entire collection..
pin cushions and prayer papers..
[All images from Lisa Congdon.]
So, I got to thinking about the collections that we have going in our
household. My new nasty trick is Collecting in the name of my
two year old daughter.. which, clearly leaves me blameless.
Is anyone buying it? I didn't think so.
Below, part of the vintage toy collection in the babe's room.
And, Ava's already out of control snow globe collection.
Girl's got a problem.
Just to give you a small view into the genetics of a 'collector'..
Yes, collecting is definitely inherited.
I was caught blushing at a few of Lisa Congdon's collections
as they remind me of some of my own. Well, some that were
started by family members that I still stand up for( to the bad people
threatening their safety in the garage. )
Match books from 'A Collection a Day'
My Grandfather's match books... these are amazing.
My faves are the dozen or so match books from 1960's Las Vegas with
Casino illustrations on them.
Mini plastic animals from 'A Collection a Day'
Coffee cans full of 'small animals' and 'small planes and cars'
that used to reside in the downstairs closet... collected by my mom.
There are some gems in here.
I am going to start calling myself a collector.
Collector has an amazing heart happy ring to it.

Spring

Spring is 2 days away.. and I cannot believe it was a year ago
this week that I was in Portland getting excited about
last Spring! There was good eats, good vintage and some
boutique cuteness on that trip.
The Idom boutique on Alberta was simply the cutest.
The sweetest and tiniest Orange space!
Well, since then, Idom has moved from Alberta to NW 23rd and
gotten rather 'fancy' if I may say so.
Idom is full of really interesting accessories, dresses and other
things imported from far off lands that are so unique and
special.  There is a lot to see and the shop owner is
so completely nice. And, the clothes she designs are
so interesting and thoughtful, she is a girl after my heart
as her collections are dress heavy, primarily woven and play
with angles/fabric...  of course, i found myself a
perfect sack shape to take home...
These pictures don't really do it justice, but huge ruffles
and indestructible shine! (sorry T)
To get back to it, check out the IDOM website
There are all sorts of amazing items from the shop on her blog.
Dreamy dresses...
Great accessories and international goodies...
pillow cases? amazing.
beautiful! Mexican earrings.
and these.
Apparently, you can call her at the shop and she will ship internationally.
Those earrings are so amazing!
Spring!
