wee little things

Who here does not have a fascination with little things?
I could just stare at them. Tell them how cute they are.
Anyway, let's consider this weekend planting
project a visualization of my future.
In my future, I am living in my
 my quiet meadow/garden.
Or, on a cloud. I'll take either.
wee little bird bath..
 the smallest carnations. yum-o
petit glass cloche...
 wee garden one!
 wee garden two!
wee trees in a wee meadow.
Ok, im annoying myself. I'll stop.
Although, my encouragement to participate in
plant related projects will not stop.

Pooped!

womp womp womp. All I have to offer is snapshots
from the weekend.
Ava got her early birthday present, mostly because
I could not deal with the drama of another item
on my checklist.
Best is that we got them from the rink so they
are super duper fancy with crazy fuzzy green boot covers
(inside) to keep them from getting scuffed!
Slept in them on the way home from the rink.
While out and about, we went to the grower for some
new tree friends. We found some. And, I took
home the bonzai junipers in the vintage Santas too.
How I love vintage Santa! yay me.
There was an EXTREME level of planting
happening this weekend.  We are running a plant
grows bigger, gets transferred into a new pot
every two weeks program around here.
Some of the bigger planties got new permanent
homes this weekend. The 'side' garden has
wrapped around the corner.
More pots.
Friend breezed in and out. Brought
Cambodian luxuries...
And, there was some succulent replanting as well.
Side note.. these new Paul Green 'Evony' sandals of mine
are making me kind of happy. They are like walking
on big pillows! I highly recommend them!!
I know, quite the snoozefest. There were some fab
parties and dinners in there.
Perhaps I will have more to offer tomorrow.

Hooray!

Well... The amazing Katie has finally launched her
Botany Factory website!!
And if that isn't enough, there is a killer scientific drawing
by Sonya Derman on the homepage!
eek!! The stuff that dreams are made of. Really.

Snippits

How I love cheesily personalizing the world around me.
Sorry about the excessive embroidery this week.
But, I must.
Personalized 'Mr Sun' 2 year old art on
Mom's day kitchen towels. Precious!
and, I finally finished this guy...
Just in time for the next holiday!! Seamless.
I am a simple woman.
My Mother's Day

Happy Day!

In honor of Earth Day, we did some
nature ogling today. You can ogle too.
First, a quick jaunt around Roger's Gardens(yes, again).
the garden.
I only photograph the fragrant roses.
what else but the living rocks.
maple forest.
roses and roses.
the amazing wood orb.
and roses.
heirloom varietals.
After, we swung over to the Southern California
Spring Garden Show, apparently in its 21st year,
for some fun landscapes.
The show is on through Sunday.
Happy Earth Day earthlings!

new toys

eek! Because 'new toys' these days are paper goods
and plants...
some of yesterday's finds from the scrumptious Roger's
First, I was thrilled to find some succulents that I haven't
met before.. the Lithops-Leslie or 'living rocks'.
They are the cutest buttons. Can we talk about the site
gosucculent? Mind blowing. They ship any succulent.
One of womanly obsessions is the green house.
I have fancy dreams of having one, and fancier dreams of
drinking champagne in its vicinity.
This green house is miniature and a green house..
obsession worthy.
And, it is for spoiling your baby seedlings!
From esschert design. Buy a petit one for only
10 bucks here!
And how wonderful are these tags...
scientific illustrations of a medley of anemone?
With glitter.
from F.G. and co, who I was happy to find out are also
the creators of the birthday crown and the
sweet wish ticket

sloooow

Remember when I said that my goal for the year
was to be totally awesome and make something
every day?
I was doing it. I was dominating life! And now, I am sick
and there is a pile of unfinished embroideries
nagging me. I am dying to finish up these doilies and
move on to a couple new projects.
Here are some new and unfinished..

Monster doily.
Seriously. Look at the back!
Another new doily with neon orange crochet edges.
Yet another victim of the cold.
But, there is some planting going on and that is exciting!
These guys are sprouting up some new basil plants.
My most exciting crop of the early plant? Beets. yum.
Coincidentally, this is my favorite seed pack artwork. So much color!
Another thing slowing me down is work. Although, I nice array of
color chips does make me very happy. mmm, color.
Let's cross our fingers that aggressive late night crafting will
continue soon!!
