simplicity

Happy Groundhog day?
I was just rereading my old blog entries, searching for this shot..
of beautiful vintage from allen company that
I put up April 24, 2009
There is a point to this story. I promise.
Anyway, aside from the fact that I am obsessed with Ruth Saltz
handbags, and the little lion heads that look like squirrels,
the skirt in the background of that picture always seemed to
me to be very practical and simply perfect.
I love that image and I tucked it away in one of my million desktop
folders.
When I was coordinating my skirts for the Fall 11 Split girl line,
I needed that silhouette. Plus pockets of course.
I would wear a potato sack if it had pockets. *diversion
Our skirt, appropriately named the Allen, is Railroad stripe
denim over dyed with navy.
sigh. I just love this silhouette. So sweet.
I also figured out, while scouring my old blogs, that I used to be
fun. What the hell happened? I am going to work on that.
Did the groundhog see it's shadow? Not that I even remember
which one means Spring. Going to look that up.
Wait. There are fourteen different groundhogs on record?
Thanks Wikipedia.
I guess I support Punxsutawney Phil and his non shadow aka
early Spring.

jumpers

Hi peops! Hope you are keeping abreast
of all of the new activity over on the Split Girl Blog
Today there are some dandy shots of
a few of my new holiday goodins.
This below piece is my fave.
Black and cream goodness. If you were able
to jump on this morning, you would have seen a
very unfortunate and pantless (with tights)
photo of me that I quickly removed. ha!
 Speaking of festive holiday jumpers,
feast your eyes on what I found while shopping yesterday!
The back of this sweater really takes it to the super crazed
middle age lady who likes Disney level.
It reminds me of Harriet from small wonder.
There were many hot sweaters out yesterday.
This one was neon and heathered. Had it been 3 sizes too big
for me, I would have bought it.
Life is busy as we prep for trade show season to start in 2 1/2
weeks. Hope everyone is having a good holiday!

If someone wants to buy me one for my birthday, I will not
stop 'you'.

old stuff new stuff

Fun times at the Golden State Goods opening this weekend!
There was lots of old stuff and of course, I partook in purchasing
some of it! yay me. More on that later.
There was racks of fun vintage..
creepy cats + ceramics? yes please.
Notice my favorite, hidden here in the case. I repeatedly begged
to buy them, but Amy would NOT allow it.
trunks of bags and belts.
and these.. specially made. So amazing.
I settled for that big red guys little brother.
Still desiring him. Some day.
removable feathers.
backless suede dress!
and this guy.
seriously cute. You must check it out if you are in
Long Beach!
And, some shots of Ava from the pumpkin patch.
oh! and good news.
 Despite my really bad blogging
commitment, we are going to start shooting some of our inspiration
pieces for swim, fall and holiday and start blogging them
over on Split girl/FB. I, of course will be stealing some of the
shots and putting them here.
In the meantime, I will continue to do what I do best at work..
dress myself up and take photo booth pictures.
have a good week everybody!

well

Sigh followed by sigh.  It's been another banner week.
Lately, our lives have been plagued by bad news. It is
seriously and amazingly too much!!
But, it must get better from here.
Really, the only way to handle this situation is to
get the winners out of the closet and throw them on.
Yesterday, said winner was the old batwing romper.
Don't be jealous.
 It even has bling!
look closely.
The second winner, which is currently hindering my
ability to breathe, is these.
and my new furry ankle booties.
these really do make you feel like celebrating.
even Ava knows what's up (and how to pose).
she is styling out one of Mommy's sassy
eighties dresses.
and when outfits fail, there are always good vibes
happening on the weekend...
Have a good one!

totally unrelated

to the random quinceanera reference..
I am semi-obsessed with the old Mexican poncho and
let's be honest that plain old ratty scratchy Mexican blanket.
You know the things I am talking about...
Yes yes yes!
And! I almost fell out of my chair looking at these!!
not sure where Vdingy gets ahold of this stuff. But it is so
incredibly amazing!
Happy Friday!!

the haps

took a few shots of the  Olde Good Things shop in LA.
This shop will be in my professional and
personal future. Mark my words!
and the kitties, you may ask? They are not as 'blue' as
anticipated. But, they are really fluffy and cute!
The brown girl has already been reserved and named Delilah.
Does 6 cats make me a cat lady. Oh yes.
and Pearl, the mom.
Happy Wednesday!

what's going on...

la la la la I am a terrible blogger. You MAY question my commitment!
ha. But, it's all in good fun. I will still part time throw some
loveliness your way!
SO! I FINALLY got my favorite piece of swim in.
Note to self : don't ever say anything is your favorite because it will
of course be the ONLY piece in the line that arrives with the
print at 250% size and has to be redone! tears!
Anyway... There is a killer group based on this gorgeous flea
market beauty. Um, looking kind of phallic at the moment.
Tell me you don't see it. Liar!
I had already received these cute bottoms, so naturally
I was excited.
Note to **customers/you - this is the Sri Lanka Morgan bottom.
Anyways, I finally got my most favoritest top.....
pencil drum roll....
The SRI LANKA PAIGE BANDEAU IN MINT! ha.
The color is actually THIS vibrant and that cobalt is to die for.
Love it!
My side story of the day is thank you to Joce for putting up this
story on her blog. Compassionate people make me incredibly happy.
I am so proud to be her friend!
Another side story, about me, is that I have been constantly reading
the Angels for Animals page on Facebook, hoping that I see
somewhere that I can help.
So! I decided that I would be a kitten foster, so that wee little kittens
would not get euthanized at the shelter and be able to be adopted.
Originally, I was set to get 7 tabbies this weekend with their mom,
but a kitten emergency came up and now I am getting these babies
tonight!!  5 week old little Russian Blue peanuts!
I am pretty excited and SO glad I can help.
And, I think it is worth mentioning that there is a chance that
these cats could grow up to look like this :
baby animals are so amazing. look at this one.
