obsessed!

Sorry to subject everyone to my love of small creatures
and my twisted sense of humor. But, I have been craft
book shopping for the last week (in preparation for
the upcoming classes) and I am dying over how many
amazing felting books there are?! I have NO idea what you
do with a small felted creature. I may have to fight my
inner nonsense collector on this one.
Look at these amazingly funny felted friends from the luckyd
shop on etsy. In a sea of people felting their
dogs, this shop is perfectly silly.

Manny the miserable monster.

Butterscotch the baby guinea pig.. the best hot mess.

Hampa and Hamma the hamster felted grandparents.
Hampa has a totally awesome baldy bowl cut.

And, apparently, they can felt your likeness, so you can keep a
small felted you in your pocket.
I just love how they are all sitting on the same creepy green
chair. It is almost like they are waiting in the doctors
office. Perhaps a felting class is in my future.
For the moment, I am seriously obsessed..

Happy weekend.. get busy!

Not to stress anyone out, but if you are going
to fashion your own fancy Halloween costume,
the time to get started is now.
Let me offer you a few costume ideas..

Dangerous love: sheik plus
geisha = witchy love child.

Hammer pants clown family

80s moon people.. who love their sneakers.

An easy sell: we love america!

Big love.

And, for your sweetie...

Disco cowboy

A onesie that is likely to creep up? Obvious good times.

Civil war/Halloween party?

Now this is an unlikely bunch.
What are they up to? No good.

Happy weekend!

like candy (americana version)

As you can see, all posts from here on out (aka through the
weekend) will be dedicated to Independence day. I am feeling
a bit of guilt due to my meager postings this week and I
plan to make of for lost time in a super spirited and
tackily nationalistic kind of way. Sorry in advance, but
there are some spectacular items out there donning America's
colors. I find 'America's' colors to be particularly seventies cool
(for the second time this week) and very vintage hip. I am excited
to talk about it. Tomorrow.
A quick blurb : Love the idea of a Doily of Independence.
I must learn how to knit.
1. Shiny flower broach from handmadeluck
2. Petals broach from vintagerepeats
3. Daisy broach from merchantofkismet
4.Doily of independence from skinnyandbernie
5. Carnival broach from nuforms
6. 'Mastermind'( don't ya think?) bag from fleamartfanny's
7. Starburst pin from retrovertigo

They are shiny and fun..right?

Look of the week.

So.. with a strong demand for new woven and other fantastic
design ideas comes the compulsion to go ahead and dust off
the fun vintage wovens from the closet. These two were actually
slated to get taken in and were dug out of a bag next to the sewing
machine. My strong desire to wear and be inspired by them
trumped their need for a slight tailoring..
I was completely thrilled with this shirt yesterday. Every time I
caught a glimpse of myself I was smiling. The
rainbow mini plaid,
the accordion collar? AMAZING.
Note, too, that the ever popular wayfarers from last year
have been transformed into very hot spectacles.
Let's call today's shirt Sgt. Pepper and the Religious Sect Club Band.
The color is so wonderful.
You will have to excuse the lack of makeup, but that is part of the
weekly 'I'm a slave to the computer' look.
A big shout out to Meg, who was present for the purchases of both
of these sexy items. It was just a year ago this week we were
trying on vintage star spangled jumpers for the upcoming
Independence Day holiday..
note to anyone over five foot five inches tall:
a jumper is NOT for you.
And, in serious news, excuse the lovely spot on my nose, as
my formerly sun kissed nose was introduced to a bottle
of liquid nitrogen on Monday, due to a possible pre cancer spot!
Getting old is rough. New message/New look of the week
essential - sunscreen(they now make 70 spf).
Let's bring this blog back into the positive by getting excited about
this bag of vintage treasures found in my mom's garage...
20 beautiful sets of tri colored crochet flower coasters knitted
by my grandmother, Regina Kern, herself.
The colors are so seventies lovely. These guys are best shared
among family members in surprise care packages. But, I am loving
the big bunch of them as company.

Just in time!

I am thoroughly hurting from a night of no sleep/cowering under
the covers due to this super scary lightning storm. I'm a baby, I know.
Look at the pictures! Scary stuff.

Anyway, just as all hope for the day amounting to anything was
nearly lost, these totally tacky and amazing lights arrived in the
mail. Reminiscent of a dirty capital I-talian restaurant,
these guys are going on our sassy new porch, amidst our new
and very abundant grape vines. cough. Contain your jealousy..
you can have them too. From Victorian Trading Company
