i guess

I will crawl out of my hole and blog?
The last few weeks have been very hectic.
My very witty and awesome grandmother
passed away a few weeks ago.
She definitely was a presence and I am going
to miss her.
She was a woman after my own heart :
she could eat a pie for dinner, always stayed up
late, and was never serious.
She was the center of every crowd.
love this moving shot on the 'jazzy'
and amidst all the madness, grandma 2 decided
to have surgery. timing!
So, I am back. I am planting... a little late, which
vexes me, but! I did purchase this lovely giant
(yes, the biggie!) greenhouse for my seedlings.
yay me.
Its kind of an *upgrade from last years seedling
greenhouse.. being made of glass and all.
And I almost flipped my lid at Roger's
Easter lay out. Egg madness.
I had to leave quickly. But I will return.
And purchase stuff. Glitter covered
smiling bunnies in overalls carrying
bags of egg stuff.
This was my fave egg..
stained glass painted on real eggs.
In other news, I totally missed Valentines..
and I am sorry. I did make cookies?
plus, in totally creepy news, Ava got stick-on
watermelon fingernails for Vday.
Don't worry, they lasted about ten minutes before
getting matted into the carpet.
"rawr".
Yes, that is the ANNIE vinyl in the background.
And, yes, we do know ALL the words.
Wanna come over? ha.
And lastly, coming up next Tues is the Holiday 11 photoshoot.
mid century styling +
+ my mom's hair from 1968
 = success!!
obviously!
Anyway, I will start making our lunch plans and
returning calls and texts now, and even
repair my car and speakers(!) while I'm at it.
Thanks for all the vday gifts and cards.
I have yours.. they are tardy.

you have a sub today

Hello class, my name is Miss Lujo. Jaimee is out today—crafting or designing or doing some other crap that’s better than blogging.  So today you have me.  I like crafts and fashion and bunny rabbits, but I like music the most.  You like music, too, don’t you class?

Our lesson today is on A Lull.  They are a band that makes music.  Can you say “A Lull”?  Say it out loud with me.  Good!  Now say it backwards.  Excellent!  Now say it frontwards and backwards while tapping your head and rubbing your belly.

Ahem.

Today we’re going to watch a video from A Lull.

Please press play.

Now.

Did you finish watching?  How do you feel?  Do you feel soft and furry like a bunny or do you feel like your mom forgot to pick you up after school?  Maybe this song makes you feel like throwing on a pair of neon shorts and going for a swim in the Pacific.

Music affects people in unique ways and no matter how you feel, it's okay. Open yourself to its endless possibilities. Feel it in your core.

Now class, here is your homework assignment.  Leave a comment telling me, Miss Lujo, and Jaimee how this video made you feel.  Whoever gives the best description gets a gold star next to their name and a free digital download of A Lull’s album, Confetti.

simplicity

Happy Groundhog day?
I was just rereading my old blog entries, searching for this shot..
of beautiful vintage from allen company that
I put up April 24, 2009
There is a point to this story. I promise.
Anyway, aside from the fact that I am obsessed with Ruth Saltz
handbags, and the little lion heads that look like squirrels,
the skirt in the background of that picture always seemed to
me to be very practical and simply perfect.
I love that image and I tucked it away in one of my million desktop
folders.
When I was coordinating my skirts for the Fall 11 Split girl line,
I needed that silhouette. Plus pockets of course.
I would wear a potato sack if it had pockets. *diversion
Our skirt, appropriately named the Allen, is Railroad stripe
denim over dyed with navy.
sigh. I just love this silhouette. So sweet.
I also figured out, while scouring my old blogs, that I used to be
fun. What the hell happened? I am going to work on that.
Did the groundhog see it's shadow? Not that I even remember
which one means Spring. Going to look that up.
Wait. There are fourteen different groundhogs on record?
Thanks Wikipedia.
I guess I support Punxsutawney Phil and his non shadow aka
early Spring.
