Getting girly.

So it occurs to me that lately the look of the week has been
very dowdy and tee shirt oriented. And, it is making me kind of sad.
So, I am attempting to refresh my wardrobe with some Guurly items.
And, of course, I have decided that I will just make them myself.
Despite realizing that I am a total tomboy, it all started when I
Without the sash, it is the cutest sack, btw. I love a good sack, mostly
because I am a spindly giraffe. Anyway, I thought to myself about
this dress 1. that I could make it myself and 2. that the neckline,
armhole could really be more current and flattering.
So, I took my most girly new favorite fabric.. most recently seen
as the lining in this...
and made a more flattering little shell with a skinnier strap and
and a nice drop neck/back armhole.
So now I am kind of wondering where to go with the girly-ness..
two more tops from Anthro. I am liking that Asymmetrical
ruffle on the body, how it puffs up dramatically.
There will be buttons up the back and there is the matter of buttons.
I pulled out some fun vintage Grandma buttons from Grandma's
old sewing case and I must say, I am really feeling the
nautical. But, that is just the boy in me struggling to come up
to the surface. resist!
The blue button is pretty sweet it has a huge deep hole in the middle and
the outside is shaped like a 70s fondue pot
The most disturbing part of this girly inspiration was that I am having this
sick Lilly Pulitzer fixation on making a matching top for my daughter.
yar. I will probably get too lazy, don't worry.

Color!

Our cascading succulent fountain is becoming a monster and it is so
rich with color. I am in love with the soft hues.. how they gradate
from one color into the most unlikely color.
I paired the colors with the  Thread Social summer line.
They are on the same color wavelength.
Some of the silhouettes are the same as Spring
(not that I am complaining)
but the new color gives it seriously fresh new life.
um, orange. Always popular. Loving that frosty pinky color too.
This Jumper is the best oldie but goody. Seersucker, which I personally
LOVE working with and a little edging splash of color.
Summer!
Some more succulent goodness for your viewing pleasure.

Why I am never alone in the garden... hello?
another oldie but goody.
yay Spring!

makes me happy

Seriously, all it takes these days is good thread skills
(p.s. I just had to hold myself back from spelling skills with a z
- dork alert) and a good sense of humor.
These broaches and pins are cross stitch heaven!
Etsy love to these from Pinpals..
especially the 'boating enthusiast' and the 'I see a ghost me too'
pins. Wonderful randomness!

sloooow

Remember when I said that my goal for the year
was to be totally awesome and make something
every day?
I was doing it. I was dominating life! And now, I am sick
and there is a pile of unfinished embroideries
nagging me. I am dying to finish up these doilies and
move on to a couple new projects.
Here are some new and unfinished..

Monster doily.
Seriously. Look at the back!
Another new doily with neon orange crochet edges.
Yet another victim of the cold.
But, there is some planting going on and that is exciting!
These guys are sprouting up some new basil plants.
My most exciting crop of the early plant? Beets. yum.
Coincidentally, this is my favorite seed pack artwork. So much color!
Another thing slowing me down is work. Although, I nice array of
color chips does make me very happy. mmm, color.
Let's cross our fingers that aggressive late night crafting will
continue soon!!

When it rains...

it pours.. catalogues. I have to say that the big winner
catalogue of the weekend that made me feel super
happy inside is the Nordstrom Designer Collections book.
Excuse the wonky scanning. The dimensions of
this catalogue were just outrageous.
Yes, this catalogue is so large(and SHINY!)
that the name was cut off.
And, apparently Nordstrom has noticed that I don't
spend much time in their designer section, because they
sent this one to Sweetie. burn!
I know we have been looking at these Spring 10
runway fashions for a year now, but they still make me
happy.

I love this Marni couple. Can I be them?
with their cute Marni shoes!
And socks.. duh! We are transitioning into
Spring here.

Love this Marc Jacobs sweater.
And the Anthro catalogue?
Well, it was unimpressive. You win some, you lose some.
And the losers lose their covers in the living room,
only to be found later looking like this :
Happy Bday Yessi!
