ella ella eh eh eh

For miss Tuesday, I construct a 3D Narwal
with giant umbrella to keep out this crazy rain.
Considering we are on Tornado watch 2010...
Crafting is keeping me going. If you have no
idea what a Narwal is you obviously are not completely
bombarded by kids and their animal alphabets, or
you have not seen Elf.  nice clip.
A narwal is a Horned whale of the Arctic,
who can be pretty darn cute and artsy.

This Narwhal needs spots and perhaps something else.
Reading glasses? hmm.
He is on his way with his goldenrod floral
print horn.

And his tie dye umbrella.

Perhaps a mustache?! How sneaky and sinister!

This Narwal is smart and sarcastic. From dwelldeep.

In zee mood

I just found a stack of my great grandmother's doilies in our
garage and I am instantly obsessed with their intricacy.
My new plan is to do some copycat doilies/crochet
patterned embroideries.

First attempt is the Vday heart doily.
I am really liking the doily this year as a Vday
expression. I will run with it.

Doily themed clothing is a little off.. but yes to the
idea of doily themed earrings.

So, a doily themed Valentines holiday is born.

beautiful

I love this palette and these prints
are so soft and sweet. A subtle calm in the
middle of the other crazy brights in Spring.
Aah. Between looking at this line and sipping tea,
(trying to quit coffee - slightly)
I am feeling less anxious. For now.

Perhaps puffy hair and a camera filter are the answers.

Nutty

January is feeling a bit cold and slow..
working away at some craftiness.
Getting caught up on my Squirrel Nutkin.
Squirrel Nutkin is one of Beatrix Potter's lesser
known characters and I am loving him...
loving the tude, the dancing and his owl friend.
See.. the tude.

Surprise blue print in the light..

squirrely tail.
Squirrels are generally too campy to be truly cute.
But, here are some other super serious squirrels.

Just in case you thought it was at all reasonable to hold a
fancy squirrel clutch.

No promises

I love new year's resolutions.. they are so full of hope.
I have seen on a few craft blogs the resolution to
'make something every day.'
I think that is super sweet. Although, seeing that I
can't pull a blog post daily, making something daily might
be tricky.
My new year's resolution is to deal with the
giant pile of stuff that I have purchased from
thrift stores or stolen from my mom's attic with the
intention of fixing or taking in.
Today I started with a new item, given to me by
Sweetie for Christmas. It would appear that
Sweetie is fed up with my giant purse and it's contents.
He bought me this wee little purse from Grandma June.

I think he was going off my love for giant bows here.
Super cute, yet the handle fits my 2 year old perfectly.

A little morning sewing, using the same dimensions
of our earlier bag tutorial for the new strap
and voila! we have a new, adorable,
across body purse.

And how about this giant bow outfit?
kidding. This outfit will send me straight to

So, no great promises of doing anything in a timely
manner, but I will try to get through that pile,
one hot item at a time!

get crabby part two..

Yay to Phoebe for doing the blog embroidery tutorials
at home. Beautiful!

Rasta urchin..

And, her super special extra credit boyfriend-inspired embroidery.

Time for you to get crabby!
This time around we are having two winter classes..

1/30 is another embroidery class.
I am feeling a bathroom towel related craft here..hmm.
I'll get back to you on this.

2/6 is a sewing class for the big Vday. We will
sew boxers and neck ties. Running wild horses boxers anyone?
Fun!

If you are a current or former UC student(or a glutton for punishment),
you can sign up here.
Otherwise, you can shoot me an email or leave a comment.
As usual, if you are very far away or unable to make it,
I will do some online tutorials to get us all in the mood.

Fresh Start!

Let's start a new year off with some extreme cuteness taken
postcard calendar given to me by my sweet sister.

This calendar is a total steal on Amazon for $6.99.
Now that I have ripped a few postcards out, I may be doing
some surprise baby animal correspondence!
P.S. You're too old to wear that tank top.
Happy New Year!
